Somatic Integration of Emotional Intelligence is built from the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System. As such, it is a Euro-centric tradition, originally created by a European man in the 1920s and 30s.

However, as YOUR body is the center of each experience, we believe this system is accessible for bodies of all cultures and experiences.

The gift of this system is its ability to hone our awareness of our body preferences and habits, and interpret how those may be influencing our perceptions of others. This ability to notice and name also gives us the opportunity to act appropriately and make changes when necessary.

We feel this is important to acknowledge the lineage and cultural influences that created this system and influences our education as Movement Analysts and facilitators.

Rudolph Laban → Warren Lamb & Carol Lynn Moore → Madeline Reber, Stacy McGinn Hurst, & Lisa Goldman → Sara Yanney

Rudolph Laban → Irmgard Bartenieff → Peggy Hackney, Cadence Whittier, & Colleen Wahl → Nicole Perry

We would also like to recognize the contributions made to our education by Bill Evans in application of the Laban/Bartenieff system to dance and pedagogy.

Below we have compiled links with information on Emotional Intelligence, Somatics, Education, and Laban Movement Analysis.
